Statistical and Econometric Solutions

The Health Sciences Universe™ allows enterprises to build financial, clinical and administrative statistical solutions that add interpretive value to the tiers of data stored inside the products.   

Since the product solutions integrates all clinical, administrative and financial solutions in a uniform set of databases, all statistical and econometric analyses can reach all data.   There is also a specific research product that is designed for building and executing research and quality of care programs.

The product employs two primary means of analytical analyses:

1. integration with SAS®
2. internal statistical, quality and econometric functions

The researcher or analyst can execute using the Enterprise ECL and EFL (clinical and financial) languages, any analytical function for:

• The General Linear Model
• Linear Algebra
• Multivariate and Univariate statistics
• Six Sigma quality functions
• Clinical & Financial Metrics and functions
• Any function built with these classes of functions or SAS by Perseid, a consultant or the customer

The research product employs a specific process to create a SAS ready table in Oracle from any data table stored in the databases. This makes the process of using SAS much more easy for most analysts.  Also, these tables can be exported to an Oracle table, CSV file, a flat file or a Microsoft XLS file.

SAS employs directly functions to access Oracle tables using the DATA step and therefore any table can be analyzed by SAS.  However, the internal statistical functions can analyze very large amounts of data more quickly since these functions are bound directly into Oracle. 

The product allows the development of financial, administrative and clinical terminology, functions and rules/metrics for continuous quality improvement and research that combine:

• adverse event and quality of care metrics
• organizational vocabularies for quality control and outcomes
• group and personal health claims and encounters
• self-reported and provider reported clinical information
• disability and worker's compensation events and metrics
• value of care functions and cost effectiveness measures
• Six Sigma quality control functions
• program development for healthcare services and clinical trials
• patient and cohort classification rules
• longitudinal activity networks of events, diagnoses and treatments
• univariate and multivariate analyses

Moreover, the product uses internal languages Enterprise Clinical™ and Enterprise Financial™ that can be employed by analysts to create financial metrics combined with clinical metrics to build risk profiles of people, families and cohorts to create CQI programs using repeatable and audited code.
